Vietnam – May 2017

North Vietnam – a stunning tapestry of colours, smells and scenery

After spending 10 days in South Vietnam last year, I just couldn’t wait to return to this stunning country full of friendly people, beautiful sights and tasty food.

Ninh Binh – breathtaking limestone mountains with rural villages, paddy fields, floating rivers, mystic pagodas and hidden temples. Perfect for chilling out and taking a leisurely boat or bike rides. As long as you don’t mind some unexpected visitors like cockroaches, giant snails, spiders and frogs in your room and even your luggage!

Halong Bay & Monkey Island – tranquil place dotted with thousands of limestone islands, jungle and emerald waters but also a bit of a party paradise for backpackers.

Hanoi – frenetic streets, omnipresent electric cables and beautiful temples. Vegetarian food tour serving a broth from swans?! And forget skinny lattes. In Hanoi the best coffee comes with egg yolk!

Vietnam has it all – it’s exotic, it has beautiful scenery and sights and it tastes bloody good!
